Privacy policy

thisorthis.ai is operated by Nisq Technologies Inc. It is one public page where anyone can vote for the AI they think is best. There are no accounts, no logins and no email sign-ups. This page explains the little we collect and why.
What we store when you vote
- The AI you picked, and any activities and models you chose to add.
- The week of the vote and the time it was cast.
- Your country, as a two-letter code derived from your connection by our hosting provider.
- A one-way hash of your network address. The key for this hash changes every week, so hashes cannot be linked from one week to the next. We never store your IP address itself.
- The score returned by Google reCAPTCHA, and whether an extra check was needed.
- A random browser id (see cookies below), so one browser counts once per week.
We never ask for or store your name or email address. Votes are kept to build the history shown on the site.
Cookies and local storage
- tot_vid: a random browser id, signed so it cannot be forged. Kept for up to 400 days. It makes the one-vote-per-week rule work.
- tot_n: a short-lived signed token (up to 2 hours) that proves the vote came from a page we served.
- tot_w and a matching local-storage entry: remember that this browser has voted this week, and what it picked, so the page can show it. They expire on Monday 00:00 UTC.
Services we use
- Google reCAPTCHA checks that votes come from people. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
- Google AdSense shows ads that pay for the site. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first and can change their choice at any time through “Cookie choices” in the footer. See how Google uses data from partner sites.
- Amplitude counts page events (for example, that a vote was submitted) without cookies or any persistent identifier, and is never linked to your browser id.
- Google Analytics measures visits and the same page events. It uses cookies (such as
_ga) to recognise repeat visits. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it only sets them after you agree in the consent message; you can change that choice at any time with “Cookie choices” in the footer. It never receives your browser id, your vote or your network address hash. See how Google uses data from partner sites. - Amazon Web Services hosts the site. AWS security logs, which may contain IP addresses, are kept for 30 days to stop abuse.
The AI logos on the page are copies served from our own domain, so showing them sends no request to, and shares nothing with, the companies that own them.
Affiliate and sponsored links
Some links on the page are affiliate links, marked with an asterisk. If you sign up through one, we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Sponsored spots are paid placements. Neither affects how votes are counted or ranked. Clicking one takes you to the other company's site, where its own privacy policy applies.
Your choices
You can clear cookies and local storage at any time. Because we hold no name, email or IP address, we cannot identify an individual voter in our data. If you have a question, contact Nisq Technologies Inc. at contact@thisorthis.ai.
